will attract more new customer who ready to make the jump from cell phone to PDA phone, than their previous model such as Palm Foleo or Palm Treo 680. The Centro is easy to use, so it won’t intimidate the first PDA phone users. This
Palm PDA phone predicted will be suited to 20- to 30-year-olds users looking to make the jump to PDA phone, but it's not the best choice for serious business users.
With dimensions 4.2 x 2.1 x 0.7 inch and 4.2 ounces weight, the Centro is smaller than their previous Treo. The device’s small size and rounded edges make
the handheld easier and comfortable to hold when held up to the ear. This
Palm PDA phone available in two colors option: ruby red and black onyx.
On its front side, we'll find its 65,000 colors, 2.25-inch diagonal TFT touchscreen display with 320x320 pixel resolution. The
display looks crisp and bright, and the touchscreen capability becomes the avantage of this Palm PDA phone, compare to its competitors, such as the BlackBerry Curve or Pearl. This Palm PDA phone offers a wonderful convenience of capability to navigate the device, launch applications and entering data via its touchscreen.
Beneath the display are the navigation array and QWERTY keyboard. The navigation array consist of five-way toggle, Talk and End keys, and shortcuts to home screen, calendar, phone app, and message in-box.
On the top of the handheld, there is a switch to silence the ringtone. The multiconnector port and a 2.5mm headset jack are placed on the bottom. On the right side you’ll find
infrared port and microSD expansion slot, protected by an attached cover. And the back side houses camera lens including self-portrait mirror, speaker, and the stylus.
This Palm PDA phone powered by Palm OS 5.4.9 with 312MHz Intel XScale processor, 128MB ROM and 64MB RAM. The phone runs under CDMA 850/1900 frequencies and supports EV-DO high speed connection. The wireless connectivity is also available via Bluetooth 1.2. The Centro also is equipped with a
1.3-megapixel camera with 2x zoom and video-recording capabilities that will produce a decent quality photo.
The device also comes with several applications. Documents to Go application v10 are there to create, view or edit standard MS Word or Excel documents, including view MS PowerPoint presentation and PDF document. You also will find standard personal information management tools, including a voice recorder, world clock, calculator, memo pad, to-do list, and of course the calendar. The VersaMail application supports
Microsoft's Direct Push Technology for real-time synchronization with Microsoft Exchange. The application also supports a wide range of IMAP and POP3 e-mail accounts, including Yahoo Plus, Gmail, AOL, Earthlink, AT&T Global, and Apple.Mac.
Finally, this Palm PDA phone is powered by 1150mAh lithium ion battery that will power up the device up to 3.5 hours of talk time and up to 12.5 days of standby time.
